The Pharmacy Student Geriatric Interest Group is a student organization at the School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which has been founded for the purpose of providing students with an opportunity to explore the role of pharmacists in caring for and serving the geriatric population, and engage in activities related to the care of older adults.
Our objectives are to increase student knowledge and skills in geriatric pharmacotherapy, increase student awareness of current events and topics relevant to geriatrics, provide opportunities for students to interact with older adults, and collaborate with community organizations and other members of the healthcare team (i.e. medical, nursing, dental, social work, occupational therapy, and physical therapy students) to provide services to seniors.
